Basic information

Camping Kraljev hrib - Kamniska Bistrica is situated in a beautiful natural environment with a beautiful view of the nearby mountains. It is open all year round, but during the low season from November to April, they recommend calling before arriving.

In the past, Kraljev hrib was an outpost where hunters lived to take care of the game in Kamnik Bistrica. The location is 10 km from Kamnik.

Camping is part of tourism and restaurant, where you will be able to test traditional local dishes, mostly connected to history of this place - this used to be a hunters lodge. They will serve you home made salami, soups, typical Slovenian specialities and culinary dishes from grill.

Campsite Kraljevi hrib has 25 terraced spaces for setting up tents and 18 spaces for a motorhome with the possibility of electricity connection, and they have also additionally arranged pitches for off-road vehicles. Guests also have nicely decorated toilets.

The hostel is set in the renovated attic of the guest house, where the natural wooden construction offers a homely and original feeling. They have several double, quadruple and family rooms. They also have a chalet for 2 or 6 people, equipped with a Finnish sauna and a beautiful view of the Kamnik Savinja Alps.

The surroundings of the Kraljevi hrib campsite offer a range of activities from hiking, walking and mountain biking to more adrenaline sports. At Kraljevi Hill you can try your hand at Paintball. A table tennis table and a Russian bowling alley are available free of charge.

The location of the Kraljevi Hill campsite is also an ideal starting point for many hiking tours in the Kamnik Alps. You can walk to the lower station of the pendulum for the Velika Planina mountain, which is only 300 metres from the campsite. For better prepared hikers, we also recommend a hike to the Kamniska saddle or the 2,558 m high Grintovec, the highest peak in the Kamnik Savinja Alps.

This campsite is absolutely beautiful. Mountains all around. The cable car to Velika planina goes right over the campground. You can walk down the street to ride the cable car up to the top of the mountain and go for a hike or go skiing. Gorgeous, peaceful views. The shower is outdoors and is not very glamorous at all. However, it was hot water and fine for what we needed. They have a cute little playground for kids and a swing hanging from a large tree which I really enjoyed. The host, Misha is amazing. She is a lovely person and very accommodating. She made us breakfast in the morning before we went out for a hike. Coffee is great in the morning, wine is even better at night. If you are in kamnik… this is the place to stay. In August 2023, the area suffered a terrible flood. Many people in Slovenia were displaced and many roads were affected. It was amazing to me that by the end of September and beginning of October, the country was rebounding already. And we could see many parts of this region that were affected. Yet, we were still able to drive our motorhome, up to this campsite with no problems. There was still some construction going on and cleanup going on in the area. Our hearts go out to the people that suffered from this terrible tragedy. We appreciate you sharing your wonderful country with us.
