Every year at the Stuttgart Tourism Fair, the German automobile club ADAC, in cooperation with the Dutch automobile club ANWB and the Swiss automobile club TCS, organizes the Gala 2026 PiNCAMP event, where it presents awards for the best European campsites and individuals in camping tourism. This year, Lidija Koren from the Camping Koren - Kobarid in Slovenia received the PiNCAMP Hall of Fame honorary award.

The PiNCAMP Hall of Fame Award is the highest award that a person in camping tourism can receive for outstanding lifetime achievements and lasting contributions to the European camping industry.

It is a kind of Oscar in camping tourism, awarded for lifetime achievement by three European automobile clubs, ADAC, ANWB, and TCS, which have a combined total of 28 million members and have been collaborating in recent years to present awards as part of the joint camping platform PINCAMP.

In 2026, Lidija Koren received the prestigious PiNCAMP award and entry into the Hall of Fame, for which we sincerely congratulate her.

Lidija Koren was the owner of the Camping Koren in Kobarid for many years, but has now handed over the running of the campsite to her son Jakob, while she herself has devoted herself to the work of the Slovenian Campsite Association, of which she is also the president.

Camping Koren is one of the best camps in Slovenia, offering a wide range of activities right next to the Soča River. A special feature of the camp is its ecological operation, which has been Lidija Koren's main focus since the beginning. In addition to well-maintained camping pitches, glamping cabins and wooden bungalows have been added to the offer in recent years, and guests can also enjoy wellness and fitness facilities. The location of the campsite attracts mainly nature lovers and those who enjoy active holidays.

At the award ceremony, PiNCAMP director Uwe Frers described Lidija Koren's life journey, which began in a farming community in Drežniške Ravne and then led her into the world of finance. Despite this, she remained an active hiker and nature lover. While traveling through the mountains of Peru and sleeping in a tent, she made a life-changing decision and opened the Koren campsite on the Soča River in 1991.

Even before Europe became aware of the importance of ecology, Lidija Koren had already opened an ecological campsite, where everything has been geared towards preserving unspoiled nature from day one.

In addition to managing the campsite, Lidija has been active in numerous tourist associations for many years. As president of the Slovenian Campsite Association within the Slovenian Tourist Board, she is also active in the European Federation of Campsite Organisations (EFCO), which brings together 23 national camping associations.

Lidija Koren never seeks attention, yet she is always ready to help with advice, information, and concrete assistance, for example, in the case of catastrophic floods in the Savinja Valley, where she organized assistance at the Menina campsite.

She is a persistent ambassador of green tourism, and for her many years of work, exemplary behavior, courage, and truly strategic long-term thinking, Lidija Koren is the recipient of the prestigious PiNCAM Hall of Fame 2026 award.

Congratulations!
