Camping in the region of Trentino - Alto Adige
The mountainous region, made up of the two autonomous provinces of Trentino and Bolzano, is best known for the Dolomites, which are extremely popular with skiing enthusiasts from all over Europe. The names of the peaks, such as Marmolada, Sella or Cevedale, are also well known to many skiers. However, as they are not limited to the winter period, hiking and thermal tourism also flourish in this region.
But mountains, rivers and lakes, as well as beautiful nature and picturesque villages, are not all that the region has to offer. It's not just sports enthusiasts who are tourists here - the region also has many historical and cultural attractions, and the cities of Trento and Bolzano are great destinations for a day trip.
As a result of its strong tourism, demand for accommodation is also high, making it the region with the highest concentration of hotels in Italy. In addition to hotels and apartments, you will also find very interesting campsites. There are simple motorhome stopovers as well as top campsites with exceptional mobile homes and glamping units.
Among the campsites, Sass Dlacia near San Cissano is an excellent base for mountain hikers.
The Olympia campsite near Dobbiaco offers more amenities, is open all year round and accepts pets.
The most luxurious campsite is Caravan Park Sexten, renowned for its excellent spa and culinary offer.
A visit to this region is therefore a great idea in all seasons and for all types of travellers. It's also quite close for Slovenian tourists, so camping in one of the campsites can either be a stop on a longer road-trip around Italy or a destination for a multi-day holiday among hikers and cyclists in summer or skiers in winter.
