Where to go when the media are reporting that highway toward the seaside full be packed and weather-man says that rain and storms are possible? To the oldest Slovene city that is hometown of great spas and beautiful campsite.

First, we wanted to camp with tent, but due to the weather forecast, we decided to rent a mobile home. And already in the evening we saw that we decided correctly - storm went through the campsite and we appreciated the hard roof above our heads.

Camping Terme Ptuj is opened all year long and has nicely arranged camping pitches. In four with plats divided parts, you can park you camper, caravan or set a tent. Part of the pitches are arranged on a soft meadow behind the reception building. All camping pitches have access to electricity, half of them to the water as well.

Sanitary facilities are not new and we were excited to find there a poster saying that modernization and renovation of the main sanitary building will done by spring 2020. It is will be one the best across Slovenia.

Camping price in summer is 19 € per person and 16 € in lower season - and includes rental of the camping pitch and entrance to the swimming pools. They have different family packages prepared, we advice you as well to make your own camping card. Camping card enables you 10% discount in summer season, while in the lower seasons they prepared package for 20 € for 2 persons + children up to 5 years + camping pitch with electricity. Entrance to the swimming pools is extra 6 € per person per day.

Back part of the campsite is dedicated to the rental of mobile homes and this season they changed 5 old mobile homes with new ones from Slovene producer Hosekra. These are spacious mobile homes with two bedrooms, large living room with kitchen, bathroom and smaller storage room that proved to be very practical for all our things.

It is welcome that bathroom has electrical heater which will be very welcome in winter time. At the reception we were told that it is planned that all mobile homes will be replaced with new ones.

On the edges of the campsite you will find very interesting glamping barrels that are mostly used by couples. They have set them years ago, but not many believe that they really used to be used for wine storage. Now they present tidy room with kind size bed, while barbecue with table and benches is in front of them.

Thermal offer at Ptuj

Camping Terme Ptuj is known pit stop for travelers going towards the Croatian coastline and vice versa. Many of them stop for a night or two, as camp offers as well camper stop with affordable price for one night.

Families usually decide to make their travel more interesting and relaxing for children with bathing in the outdoor and indoor thermal swimming pools. Entrance ticket is included in the camping price, it is as well possible to order daily half-board (breakfast and dinner) at the nearby hotel.

In thermal park it is possible to enjoy the outdoor swimming pool complex that includes larger 50m swimming pool, pool with waves, children's pool, peaceful river, massage pool, numerous adrenaline slides and jumper (3 and 5m high).

Camping guests can as well access to the indoor pool complex that offers 25m swimming pool, therapeutic poo, children's pool, several massage pools with hot water and smaller pool with slide. There are as well saunas that are accessible without extra fee - two Finnish and one Steam sauna in the indoor complex and two Finnish saunas as part of the outdoor pool complex.

What to do at Ptuj?

We recommend campers that will stop at Camping Terme Ptuj to bring bikes as there are many arranged cycling routs in the neighborhood. One of the nicest is along the river Drava. This one is as well great for jogging and offers splendid views across old town of Ptuj and life along the river.

There are courts for tennis, beach volleyball, mini golf and basketball along the outdoor swimming pools.

You should not miss through the old part of the city (that 10 min walk from the campsite), that is proud of its 2000 years long history. We have started our tour at Minioritska church, passed city hall to the city tower and Orpehus Monument on Slovene square. Through the narrow streets we walked to the castle on the hill, where we explored the exhibitions of the Ptuj Regional Museum.

There are many events in the summer as well, to name only two of them: Ptuj night on 2 and 3 of August and Roman games from 15 to 18 August. More about Ptuj and happening there: https://www.ptuj.info
