Best campsites in Slovenia are Terme Catez and Nadiza, best glamping is in Camping Bled. In Croatia the title for best went to campsites Valkanela, Cikat and Strasko, among best smaller ones are Ulika Rovinj, Lopari and Slanica.
Slovenian camping portal www.avtokampi.si has organized selection of 6. Naj kamp Adria in which lovers of camping were through whole season selecting best campsites in Slovenia and Croatia. They were able to choose among 58 campsites in Slovenia and 156 from Croatia. All together they submitted 34.000 votes.
Winners were announced and prices awarded as part of the three-day camping congress organized by Croatian camping Union in Sveti Martin on Mura, where more than 300 representatives from camping sector attended various interesting panels with experts from Slovenia, Italy, Germany, Holland and Denmark.
Editor of the www.avtokampi.si Klemen Hren pointed out that this years season was very sucessful for campsites as spending holidays in the nature is becoming more and more popular. Due to bad wather in the region in the beginning of the camping season (in June) the season did not start in the best way, however, the summer and autumn were very beautiful and took care for record numbers. Slovenian campsites hosted 3.7% more campers that in last season, while Croatian 2%, which is 17.5 million overnights in Croatia. It is interesting to know that even 54% of overnights done by Slovenes in Croatia are done in their campsites.
Main sponsor of the selection is Adria Dom from Crnomelj that is well known around Europe for their mobile homes and glamping tents (last year they were first to present foldable glamping tent). Its director, Ms Marta Kelvisar welcomed all the guests and presented novelties for season 2017.
Best Slovenian campsites are Terme Catez and Nadiza
In category of large Slovenian campsites the winner is Camping Terme Catez, where guests love their outdoor and indoor thermal riviera and animation. Second place was won by last winner, camping Adria from Ankaran, while third was Camping Sobec from Lesce.
Among smaller campsites the most votes were given to campsites along three different rivers. First place was won by camping Nadiza from Podbela pri Kobaridu, that is known for its quality services for families. Camping Kolpa from Vinica that is run by family Kadunc won second place and camping Koren from Kobarid third place.
Best Glamping
Glamping - glamorous camping - is becoming more and more popular way of spending holiday, as it joins comfortable stay in untouched nature. Slovenia is with some excellent locations with wooden houses, glamping tents and wine barrels, leading in the region.
Most votes were awarded to wooden houses in camping Bled, where guests can select among varius thematic packages from couples, families, women and men groups. The second award went to Bled as well, to Garden Village, where they offer luxury tents as well as tree houses. Camping Terme Catez offer floating wooden houses, Indian tents and cawboy wagon received award for third place.
Best Croatian campsites for season 2016
There are more than 500 campsites in Croatia and they were divided according their size into three regions. Among the large campsites in Istria Slovene campers selected camping Valkanela from Vrsar as the best one, where guests can enjoy on renovated beach and new swimming pool. Second place went to camping Lanterna near Porec where for season 2016 they prepared renovated pools, thematic mobile homes, glamping tents and white sandy beach that is most popular among youngest guests. Award for third place went to camping Zelena Laguna from Porec.
Camping Ulika from Rovinj is winner this year as well as the best smaller Istrian campsite, that can be promoted as camping for gourmands as you will find excellent konoba Barba Danilo there. Second place went to Kranjski kamp from Premantura and third to camping Puntica that has been party renovated this season.
Slovene lovers of camping like campsites in Kvarner as well. Among the large one they as best one selected - already sixth time in a row - camping Cikat from Mali Losinj. Guests are excited about its tidiness, great location and first aquapark in Croatian camps. Second place was won by camping Njivice from island Krk and third by camping Krk which was this season completely renoved and became first Croatian five stars campsite.
Among smaller campsites guests like the most camping Lopari from Nerezine on island Losinj, camping Bor from island Krk that received second place and camping Mali from Baska (on island Krk as well).
The best large campsites in Dalmatia are camping Strasko from Novalja on island Pag. Guests love their pitches and beach, lots of greenery across camping and great animation. Second place stayed on island Pag, campers awarded camping Šimuni, while third place went to Biograd, to Camping Park Soline.
There are more than 120 small campsites along Dalmatian coast and on its islands. They are well known for its hospitable owners, beautiful nature and peaceful holidays. Majority of the votes was awarded to camping Slanica from island Murter, second place went to camping Biograd and third to camping Lupis on Peljesac peninsula.
Best naturist - FKK - campsite is in Vrsar
Slovene campers have selected camping Koversada in Vrsar as the best naturist campsite in the region. It has been opened back in 1961 and is known as one of the first naturist campsites in Europe. Second place was awarded to camping Valalta and third to camping Solaris from Porec.
Naj kamp 2016 - Award for lifetime achievement
Dr. Josipa Cvelić Bonifačić is well known in camping tourism where she is playing an important role for 40 years. She has rich experiences from various parts of tourism sector, including with running a campsite in Punat on island Krk, being head of camping section in tourist company Valamar as well as higher assistant at Faculty of tourism and hospitality management in Opatija, Croatia. She was the first one in Europe to defend a PhD about camping and has been responsible for new subject at the faculty - camping management. For all her contribution and dedication she has been awarded Naj kamp 2016 award for lifetime achievement.
