Croatian Istria is well known by its excellent campsites that are ranking among the best one in Europe. Funtana is little town between Porec and Vrsar and is host of new 5 star campsite - Istra Premium Camping Resort.

We have visited camping resort in beginning of June among the first, when some horticultural works have not been completely finished yet. There were already first guests in mobile homes and in glamping tents, some permanent guest were setting up their stationary caravans. Official and real opening is foreseen for second weekend in June.

Holders of Avtokampi Camping Card are entitled to 5 - 7.5% discount on price of camping pitch and stay of an adult.

Istra Premium Camping Resort is textile campsite (it was previously known as naturist location) that is great getaway for families with children. Main building at the entrance encompasses reception in hotel style with bar, theatre and several playrooms for children's animation.

Theatre is used for evening entertaining events and movie nights, while animation part - Maco club - is divided on several playgrounds, suitable for children of different age. They have as well not forgotten about teenagers - there is large multimedia playroom with video games and various other games available (table football, billiards).

Istra is oiffering 500 arranged camping pitches, 125 mobile homes for 4-6 persons, 10 romantic housed for couples and 9 glamping tents from Slovene producer Big Head.

Camping pitches arranged on a grass and sand

Best camping pitches are arranged close to the neighboring small island, on the left side of the cape, where guests can enjoy on large camping pitch just by the sea, with large wooden terrace for sunbathing with shade, barbecue and shower. Large portion of the camping pitches are equipped with electricity and water, some additionally with sewage.

Right part of the campsite is arranged in camping pitches, around half of them are sandy, around half towards the cape are grassy and offering more shade.

Sanitary facilities are composed of the newly built sanitary buildings following the latest and newest standards, adjusted to children, handicapped, offering family bathroom, laundry and even dishwashers.

Holidays in mobile homes and in glamping tent

Left part of the campsite Istra Premium Resort offers mobile homes for 4 - 6 persons. There are several different types available, from Marbello Premium in first row by the sea, Bella Vista Premium on the top of the hill with excellent view across city of Vrsar, private swimming pools and summer kitchen on terrace.

Romantic smaller mobile homes are arranged for couples and have kitchen and bathroom.

Guests that still prefer staying in tent and like some more comfort will be happy to hear that rental of glamping tents for 4 - 6 persons are set on the tip of the cape that offer nice views on sunsets.

Each tent has two bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen, for greater enjoyment guests will be able to relax on large terrace with barbecue.

Beach, swimming pools, wellness and sports offer

Beach in camping Istra is arranged on the left side in pebble bays, while on the cape and on the right side that is better shaded, beach is mostly stoned with some concrete parts. Access to the sea for handicapped guests is arranged on two points, smaller part is arranged as beach for dogs as well.

Istra Premium Camping Resort has largest swimming pool complex among campsites in Croatia. There are two larger swimming pools with sea water for swimming and relaxing in the water. For the youngest two swimming pools with sweet water are arranged with playgrounds and smaller slides. Additionally, swimming pool with larger slides will be well accepted by adrenaline-lovers - three slides are more than 10 meters high.

Along the swimming pools a wellness centre with massages, finnish, salt and krio sauna is arranged.

Camping guests in camp Istra can play basketball, football, beach volleyball, tabel tennis and table football, evenings will be more fun with adventure golf.
