Active Holidays in Camp Galeb in Omiš! Look for all ideas for unforgettable holidays in Dalmatia.
What to do in camp Galeb and in Omiš?
Location of camps is exceptional as camp is from three sides surrounded with high mountains, giving special flavor to the city and at the same time enabling many activities. As here river and sea are mixing you will notice extraordinarily rich flora and fauna.
Omiš is relaxing Dalmatian city, where you can take some rest, learn about Croatian culture or have fun all night long. In medieval times Omiš was giving shelter to pirates that were attacking Venetian ships on the sea. As it is located only 21km southern of town Split, it is a great staring point for getting to know a bit closer Makarska Riviera, middle and southern Dalmatia, Croatian islands, rich history, untouched nature and gorgeous beaches. If you climb to one of the city’s fortress, for example from Mirabello (Peovica) you will have a nice panorama of the whole Omiš, while from top of Starigrad (Fortica) you will be able to admire islands Brac, Hvar and Solta.
Rafting on river Cetina is a thing that will bring lots of adrenaline to your holidays and ensure unforgettable memories. This is a nine kilometres long descent, where firstly you will be practising rowing techniques shown by the instructors. During the second part you will have to handle rapids, smaller barriers, waterfalls, admire rich vegetation that is building natural tunnel where you will forget that you are not hundreds kilometres from civilization.
A day trip with a tourist ship through the river Cetina canyon is recommended to guests loving more peaceful trips. Ship will take you to hidden parts of river, where pirates were hiding their treasures and from very close admire high mountains and untouched nature. You will stop at nice old mill from 17th century, where you can talk a walk, try typical Dalmatian food and refresh yourself with a jump into Cetina.
Close by the camp seven different free-climbing directions can be found offering more than 40 routs. The route difficulty levels range from the easiest ones i.e. routes intended for beginners to the most difficult ones (known among the climbers as „projects“). We recommend also trekking along the beach or along the river Cetina, where you will find and hear many stories about Omis pirates, quarrying of stone from Cetina, fishing, etc.
Just before the camp’s entrance you will see a interesting Dino park for children, where they will be able to meet in close these big animals, play on various playgrounds and even try to walk on water.
