A campsite of the Human Company (hu) chain, east of the centre of Florence, open all year round. The hu Firenze Camping in Town is right next to the Arno River, about 1 km from Firenze Rovezzano Train Station and close to the city's main entrance road, which links Florence to the A1 motorway.
As befits a city campsite, it is open all year round and well connected to the city centre: a shuttle bus runs from the campsite to Piazza Ferrucci Station 8 times a day. A one-way ticket costs €2, a return ticket €3.5.
There are 2 types of pitches: the larger ones (up to 100 m2) for motorhomes and caravans have electricity and water, the smaller ones (up to 60 m2) have electricity only. Dogs are allowed. There are 2 sanitary blocks with showers and washing and drying machines, which are heated in winter. The restaurant's toilets are adapted for disabled guests.
The campsite's water park offers 3 pools: 1 for swimming, 1 shallow for soaking, and a lagoon with games and sprays in the middle for children.
The on-site restaurant serves breakfast and dinner, and lunch on weekends. In addition to the restaurant, there is a lounge bar open during the warm months and a classic pool bar in summer. The campsite also has a well-stocked shop.
There are nice cycle paths along the Arno River, so we recommend renting a bike from the campsite (they also have e-bikes) as an alternative to the shuttle bus to visit Florence city centre. They also organise various excursions or guided walks from April to September. Otherwise, the campsite also offers billiards and table tennis.
Florence is, of course, the main destination for camp guests. The city offers an impressive array of cultural and artistic monuments: the Uffizi Gallery, the Duomo, the Palazzo Vecchio and the nearby Ponte Vecchio bridge, the Accademia Gallery with Michelangelo's statue of David... the list is almost endless, but just walking around the centre is an adventure.
The campsite is also a great base for visiting the rest of Tuscany. Vineyard-covered hills, beautiful landscapes, great food at every turn and other historic towns are all reasons to spend a few days exploring outside Florence.
