Lonely Planet last winter recommended Croatian Istria to all his readers for holidays in 2011. This region was awarded as second on Top 10 list recommended destinations, just after Egyptian Sinai.

This region was awarded as second on Top 10 list recommended destinations, just after Egyptian Sinai. Lonely Planet compared Istria with Italian Toscana and named it as mystic green land. It is described as region with rich history, attractive cultural events, numerous festivals, good food and ideal climate through the whole year.

We’re presenting you offer of camps around Istria that belong to the top camping destinations. Many camps have been categorized as four and three stars. In our database we have information for 49 camps, located from Savudirja to Umag, Novigrad, Porec, Rovinj,Vrsar, Pula, Medulin and Rabac.

German ADAC last year inspected 108 camps along Croatian coastline and average given grade was 2.45 (out of maximum 5). Camps in Istra have been comparable much better, their average grade was 3.24. Best awarded camp is Lanterna, the only one in region that was awarded with title Superplatz. The award ‘yellow shield”, meaning that camps improved very much, was given to camps Kanegra (FKK), Stella Maris and Finida in Umag, Solaris (FKK) and Bijela Uvala in Porec.

In a chart below we compared prices of camping in Istria for 2011. For easier comparison we compared prices in high season for 2 adults and 2 children (4 and 11 years). Price includes also pitch with electricity and vehicle.

As the pitch concerned, we took into account price of an average pitch offered by Istrian camps, but not the ones with water and electricity (only in camps San Polo and Colone, where all the pitches include water connection) and without the ones in the first rows by the sea. We did not include tourist tax and registration fees.
